December 24th

Christmas has changed, no longer as vivid

that essence of child has, silently, disappeared

I do not wish

I do not wait

Remember? That word of Godly power

I barely thought about it this December

only in passing

only in conversation

I used to sit by the tree and admire

the lights, the smell, the flickers of anticipation

Christmas has faded

Christmas is grainy

yet, It is the anniversary of Childhood

one i fondly revisit each year
